SURV 1205 - INTRODUCTION TO MAPPING AND G.I.S.
This is an introductory course that will explore the art and science of map making focusing on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This course will examine the history and uses of maps as well as how computer software and hardware currently play a vital role in their development. Global Positioning Systems, remote sensing and aerial photogrammetry will be discussed and how they relate to GIS with applications into the fields of natural resource management, city planning, scientific research and business applications.
